I read the article and I can really only find a single quote that supports the idea that an EV price war would be bad for consumers:
> The fierce competition has led to deep price discounts in recent months. This will ultimately harm the interests of consumers. They will no longer be able to get services from retired brands, or they will see a significant price cut on the models they buy.
That same quote also describes how it could be a good thing. I think if the title were being more honest about the actual content of the article, it'd read something like:
> An EV price war encourage auto manufacturers to engage in business practices that aren't optimal for profit.
In other words, an EV price war threatens profits, and may leave consumers who bought vehicles by companies who couldn't handle it with cars they can't get parts or service for.

In other words, their EV strategy doesn’t work and they are losing to Tesla and the Chinese automakers.

Tesla's ground up platform approach without the added drag of legacy platforms enables enough margins to be able to provide discounts.
It's VW's fault they couldn't figure out how to make EVs with the same cost structure.

The "EV price war" is only happened in China. I wish it happens everywhere (only with better quality vehicles)
