Before and besides the privacy issues, the parking due (if paid at the time) amounted to less than 10 $, and it became 80 $.<p>The article doesn&#x27;t specify how much time has passed, but it must not have been much (days, weeks, maybe months) there is something perverse in any mechanism that allows 800% grow of a debt in a short time.<p>BTW, the message seems to me (and this probably show how old I am) like a perfect example of the phishing &quot;Please click here to learn more&quot; kind that we were taught to ignore and NOT reply to.

If I had to guess? It&#x27;s SpotHero that&#x27;s sharing their database.<p>I recently used a reservation in a Chicago garage and the gate went up as soon as I pulled up to the ticket machine, before I could scan my barcode.<p>I talked to an attendant to make sure my parking was valid, he said the license plate (which you also register with SpotHero) triggered the gate opening, not the barcode.<p>The garage at 2600 Western is a SpotHero client.
