The threat to satellites is almost existential for the military. As we trek further in whatever Multi-Domain Operations means, the only sure thing is the need for egregious amounts of bandwidth between sensors and the people looking at the agglomerated sensor data. If only the division has access to this data it will be disastrous. We're talking squad sized elements needing the data stream from the missile 1000kms away, alongside the stream from the DIA DB back in DC, alongside the steam from higher.
