This news sort of blindsided me yesterday, because I'd heard the name perhaps once or twice in the blur of news, but it didn't even occur to me that it would hit San Diego and the rest of SoCal head-on.
I heard from family out there that they are hunkering down and making contingency plans. I watched Todd Gloria and the Navy folks in SD announcing their game plans and the situation as it was. I was also surprised to find that it had been upgraded to Category 2 Hurricane, but was expected to be back down to TS level by the time it crossed the US border.
And of course I had to chuckle about the name and ask my friends whether we would be left with a taco truck on every corner, and an email server in every basement, after all. Then I watched Hilary Duff's quite appropriate "Come Clean" video and hunkered down myself.
