Interesting study. I wonder why they compared only to background incidence (2014 - 2019) and not also to contemporaneous unvaccinated people (as a separate arm)? Here they draw the conclusion that the vaccine does increase risk of myo/peri-carditis for a specific age group but that it’s lower than the risk of that same AE triggered by COVID infection. But it seems like they’d have the data to just as easily directly compare the vaccinated group to the contemporaneous unvaccinated group and get really good info from that?
