Marriage declines in China as young Chinese choose dating, staying single

There's a ton of nuance to this issue (source: me - I used to work alongside Chinese nationals, both here in the US and also residing in China).
But summed up - 1. There is enormous pressure to be successful before one gets married, because one's standing in society (job prestige, income, real estate ownership) is essentially the reason they are chosen to be a spouse. 2. There aren't enough opportunities for young people to make sufficient amounts of money to be able to raise their standing in society. 3. Costs of living in the desirable Tier 1 Cities and surrounding areas (where the big jobs often are) is insane. 4. The follow-on effects of ending the one-child policy will take another decade or so minimum to come to fruition (the policy only ended 8 years ago), meaning there's still a massive gender imbalance. Right now women can be incredibly selective (see point 1) and there's no real ability for the Chinese society to alleviate that.
Interesting times ahead for China.
