What is an “attosecond pulse”, and what can you use it for?

That was incredibly readable, I suppose the test is my summation:<p>Attosecond pulses are useful to observe changes in atoms as they happen.<p>Of course, that&#x27;s like when people ask what brought me to Alaska and I tell them a car. Ha ha ha. But exceptional write-up. Feel like I could at least ask questions to learn more.

The answer is really amazingly approachable even for a non-scientist like me. One of the main reasons why I still feel the StackExchange universe (and similar) have a lot of the world&#x27;s knowledge.

I mean taking the title at face value and factoring in the odds... Practically speaking _you_ can do absolutely nothing with them.<p>If you can then you work in a far more interesting field or place than most.
