just got this email:
"Protections enabled for your child
Screen Time and parental controls include a number of important tools to help you control how your children use their devices. Starting in iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10 and macOS Sonoma, three features included in Screen Time will be enabled on CHILD NAME's devices to help keep them safe: Web Content Restrictions, Screen Distance, and Communication Safety.
Web Content Restrictions help prevent kids from accessing adult websites while they browse the web. In the newest OS update, adult websites will be blocked and you can choose to allow or block additional websites. There’s also an option for you to block all websites, except for a specific set that you choose to allow for CHILD NAME.
Screen Distance can help protect kids’ eyes and reduce the risk of myopia by encouraging them to move their device farther away if it is too close to their eyes for an extended period of time. This feature is available and on by default if CHILD NAME has an iPhone or iPad with the TrueDepth camera that powers Face ID.
Communication Safety detects nude images and videos that children might receive or attempt to send in Messages, AirDrop, FaceTime messages, the system Photo picker, and when using Contact Posters in the Phone app. If sensitive content is detected, the photo or video will appear blurred and CHILD NAME will be presented with helpful information and reassured it is okay if they do not want to view the content. To protect CHILD NAME privacy, all analysis of the content happens on their device and Apple does not get access to the content as a result.
If you'd like to change or disable any of these features for CHILD NAME, you can do so on your device in Settings > Family > Name"
