I was recently elevated to engineering manager at the company I work with. I've been wanting this opportunity for some time although the circumstances in which I got the title are not exactly what I pictured. I have spent some time thinking about previous managers I've had and what qualities (good & bad) they exhibited. Mostly looking to expand my knowledge and reflect on the kind of eng manager I want to be for my team.
Not very new/exciting, but How to Win Friends and Influence People is well worth the read. It's a lot of basic stuff you probably already know but need to hear again and again before it sinks in.
