I have my computer on 24/7 and I probably use it at all hours of the day.
Several times I have tried to use those wireless keyboards and mice, especially when they advertise 'up to six months of use' but invariably they run out of battery within a week or two.
My solution, as the OP found, is to just plug in a USB wired keyboard and mouse. Problem solved!
(I have a desk with monitor, keyboard, etc. Why would I bother having a wireless keyboard or mouse, anyway? What advantage would that bring?)

Often these dongles plugged directly into the computer will have too much radio interference. This severely affects performance, but it is all often intermittent.
The solution is to get a usb extension cord and plug the dongle into that. I had this problem with several logitech mice on several different desktop computers. but the usb extension cord always fixed (because the dongle can be placed further away from the power supply, etc.).

Think I've got 5 of those in service; and have had two die and be replaced from harsh misuse. They serve on the TV pi's here and have for years; the ones that died got sat on and spilled on, respectively.
Haven't had so much as an interference issue among them that i can recall.
Luck of the draw, I guess. How many of those have they sold, I wonder?
