A while back I read someone's thoughts that the government would consider as fraud any financial transaction it didn't track. It sounded overblown until this recently was published [<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/05/business/banks-accounts-close-suddenly.html" rel="nofollow noreferrer">https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/05/business/banks-accounts-c...</a>].<p>The article posted here puts forth a reasonable approach, but I expect that achieving it is more political than economic, and that governments themselves, with or without the consent of their governed, will not take any steps back in their ability to monitor civilians.
