Apple insists 8GB unified memory equals 16GB regular RAM

While I won&#x27;t defend what Apple is saying, I do think it&#x27;s notable just how well MacOS runs on 8GB of ram. Sure, if you do any real work on it, you&#x27;ll need more ram, but as a general use machine (albeit my &#x27;general use&#x27; as a power user), I can&#x27;t say I&#x27;ve ever felt constrained on my 8GB M2 MacBook Air.<p>Dozens of Firefox tabs open, email, calendar, discord, whatsapp, image editors, terminal windows, etc. I only know I&#x27;m in swap when I go and look in Activity monitor. Even so, the performance impact isn&#x27;t noticeable.<p>I&#x27;ve used windows laptops with 8GB of ram before. It&#x27;s not a pretty sight.

Really shows how technically savvy Apple thinks their customers are. Just one more point supporting &quot;Apple products aren&#x27;t for people who understand technology.&quot;
