At my local dollar store, it began the day before Halloween. Two and a half aisles of Halloween stuff, and a half aisle of Christmas stuff. Then the day after Halloween... Christmas big time.<p>So bizarre that people need almost two full months to shop for a one-day event now!<p>Those charts are interesting. You know what else was happening during that main spike? Covid lockdown. Nobody had anything to do except change their behaviours and traditions irrevocably.<p>I get cause and correlation, but I think that's what happened. Christmas timing isn't the only thing that changed, but it's one of the more visible things we're still seeing the past few years.<p>My newest Christmas/Holidays Ritual: Watching lockdown videos where people combined and did really neat stuff together using Zoom or similar group chat apps. Those are actually the closest to true holiday spirit than anything that came before.
