It's quite amazing the lengths to which the NYT is going in this article to legitimize the absurd notion that there is widespread antisemitism on American college campuses, and that criticism of Israel is antisemitic as such. For example:
> “If you don’t think that Israel has a right to exist, that is antisemitic,” said Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor, who suggested she would seek to impose new federal rules around anti-Israel statements if elected president. “We will change the definition so that every government, every school, has to acknowledge the definition for what it is.”
...
Last week, while Ms. Haley attacked antisemitism on the Republican stage ...
So, the article subtly but explicitly endorses the idea that Ms. Haley's advocacy for criminalization of opposition to the establishment of an ethnostate is equivalent to "attacking antisemitism."

It not the issues at issue, it the teams in play.
Saw a comment here yesterday that could be paraphrased "She had to go, she gave the other team a gift goal."
I suspect in this case many people are, without awareness, backing a team that would cheerfully kill them, because anything is better than "letting the other side win."
