I find the authors take a bit reductive towards just generating solutions, when top down learning works super well. I can ask high level questions in any format or tone I like, and drill down into the topic dynamically, find my own paths in how I want to explore a topic. "Explain differential equations to me as Batman explaining it to Robin", I feel my style of learning back in the day would have gelled really well with LLMs, and not (just) for pulling solutions out. Confabulation is already much reduced with LLM tool use like search and db lookup.<p>I see LLMs as an opportunity in education, and am much less gloomy than the author, though it's been a while since I sat in a classroom, so who knows.
