Making journalism sustainable is incredibly difficulty in the internet age, and it's even worse for subjects like this, where competition from social media is intense and the barrier to entry is nearly nonexistent. Plus, even the best publications struggle with not being the easy money spinners their billion dollar owners want them to be, since it's not the kind of business that's going to get you a unicorn/FAANG level return on investment.
