Tell HN: Locked out of my self-hosted Filerun instance

4 点作者 shlip超过 1 年前
Filerun is a nextcloud/owncloud like multi-function self hosting software that you can install on your own storage solution.
After a few weeks without accessing the instance I installed on my own storage through ftp, I tried to log in only to realise that my (superuser) account was disabled, which shouldnt be possible according to the doc (https://docs.filerun.com/admin_guide#superuser). I then found out that the free version I was using (limited to 3 accounts) is no longer offered (and replaced with a 99€/year subscription).
I suspect this is why I was locked out of my own instance.
I get that the dev behind the software is free to do whatever they please with their software, and I just have to go back to using owncloud but this is not a pleasant experience.
Was anyone else bitten by this ?

Use https://docs.filerun.com/resetting_the_superuser_password And if you are a FileRun user, then you have an account on the FileRun forum, which is a more appropriate place to post about this. FileRun free version was provided for 6 years and it was retired last year in May, with a heads-up message sent to everybody who registered. There is no subscription, the 99 EUR is a one time cost with lifetime updates for personal use.
