Some leaders in tech have a better reputation than others. For example, I think Bill Gates built a successful company while remaining mostly a good guy, then used his wealth for philanthropy.<p>There is so much doom and gloom about tech these days, but there must be some reasons why we all got into it, and I think some of those reasons will endure.<p>Which tech leader do you admire the most, and why?
Larry Ellison. I don't think we would agree on much but he stands alone as a leader in the industry who's entirely self made. No loans from parents or extended family, no contacts in high places and no safety net to fall back on if he failed. That there are so few founders of a similar background has led me question the degree to which merit exists in this industry.
