The "Cash Cow" model for selling apps

I&#x27;m not a fan of this model. This happened with Zbrush when Pixologic got bought by Maxon. Pixologic had perpetual licenses and Maxon ended them and now has a one year support &quot;perpetual&quot; license, so you need to spend hundreds of dollars every year. The alternative is an even more expensive month-to-month subscription.<p>Ideally at the very least, there is perpetual support for bug fixes. New features would be modular and bought separately. I haven&#x27;t seen this model yet outside of games, and I wonder if it would be the best compromise between subscriptions and full ownership.
