On the production side, there are obvious benefits. I'm more curious on the receiving side. How do you feel when you encounter AI generated voices in marketing or educational material?
If it sounds to me like an AI voice, then I start losing interest in whatever content is being presented. I feel like this must be some cheap hack content.
I'm not sure that this is a logical and fair reaction on my part, but it's true nevertheless. Common wisdom seems to be that AI voices will eventually (soon? later today?) become indistinguishable from human voices. I guess we'll see.
One exception could be if, being an AI voice is deliberately integral to the content, or beneficial for aesthetic reasons. For example, a video about, say, future technology that is intentionally using an AI voice for "futuristic" impact.
I think it's not bad at all. In fact, I listen to an AI-generated podcast, feel the agi: https://open.spotify.com/show/7n1uUAMbKp8Mt1MOEy6tcd?si=f546...
