We Can't Have Nice Software

> They invented these dishwasher detergent pods that are actually a downgrade - slightly more time consuming to use than powder, more expensive to manufacture and purchase, worse for the environment,
But you don't get any of the powder on you, you don't need to measure, and you don't need a spoon. If you are old and have shaky hands, it makes a mess. If you are weak, you have to lift this heavy box and pour. If you have kids being taught about the dishwasher, they might lick it. They are more expensive, but for things like soaps, the cost of both is so low as to be near irrelevant.
Powder is still available in stores. If it were the clear winner from the consumer perspective, people would continue to buy it. Nobody in my family, even the really old people who used powder for decades, uses powder.
And this is the problem with this attitude and restrictions declaring something to be "peak." Someone deciding that something is good enough and preventing further exploration.
The reason we don't have nice software is for the same reason. Software that does more is more important to customers than software that is reliable or uses less RAM.
