Today I learned that many people in my FRC team’s software subteam has ADHD, just like me. I wonder if ADHD and interest in software have some sort of correlation (probably because the ease of long coding sessions and instant feedback loop)
Yes. I imagine as ypu said, the feedback loop and possibility of achieving a flow state are both highly appealing to people with ADHD traits.<p>Personally I find that my ADHD traits lead me to enjoy getting things working, but I often struggle a lot with crafting something resilient and transferable, despite philosophically favouring the latter.<p>Im surprised that you found them so common in your team. I would have thought actually working in dev would be hard for people with ADHD traits, so I'm kind of curious now too.<p>I do wonder. If you have a team with enough people with ADHD traits, does the team become better at organising work in a way that accomodates and channels the positive aspects of those traits? It seems like in the long run, any sustainable management strategy would become shaped by the presence of such people.
