I recall my first job interview with a regional bank in Durham, North Carolina in 1976 after dropping out of a computer science PhD program. I got the job programming Cobol but my boss said that he had serious reservations about me wearing sneakers, aka running shoes, to the interview. It was all I owned. I wore a tie - and I did great in that job for two years before moving on.
From 1976 until 1999 I "dressed for success" and always wore a suit as a programmer or project manager.
You know ... it does not really make a difference what a person wears to work, to interview, or to present - if their reputation is already established. It only matters if the first impression is all the other party or audience has to go on.
For Zuck, well he can do whatever he wants! I know his rep. Its obvious in the Facebook web site, its APIs, its backend, and its financials. Let him wear a hoodie and lets celebrate it.
I love the scene in the Social Network where he scrambling between campus buildings with snow falling in his shorts and sandals!
