This article seems to delve into more than just pictures of food, but squarely back on that topic, I do in fact appreciate actual pictures of the actual food from the restaurant.
If it's some major chain, I probably don't care. I know what to expect. But if it's a local restaurant, especially one that I've never been to before, then a true picture of the food helps me decide what I want to order, or if I even want to order from there at all. An AI-generated image of something that may or may not look somewhat like the actual dish in question is useless, and, if I failed to notice before ordering, I might even feel was misleading.
[Edit: Not just AI-generated pictures either. Stock photos of similar-but-not-actually-the-same dishes work the same way. I would like to see a picture of the actual cashew chicken at the restaurant, not a picture of some random cashew chicken somewhere.]
