Is ‘threat actors’ really a better descriptor than simply calling them ‘hackers’?
I have noticed a weird trend of shifting phrase usage in news. Mass shooters are now ‘active shooters’ (even in the post-tense, somehow). Soldiers are referred to as war fighters (which sounds pretty dumb, maybe vague on purpose to include mercenaries and contractors?).
Now hackers are ‘threat actors.’
We have already existing, perfectly serviceable terms to describe these situations.
