I think the meat substitutes, such as Impossible and Beyond, taste fine; the spicey sausages are actually desireable, though I don't think anyone would confuse them with high quality sausage.<p>But how are they nutritionally? They have the hallmarks of junk food - endless non-food ingredients, ultra-processed substances that are not recognizable as their natural sources or anything real.<p>Instead of faking meat, why not develop some real protein sources - better beans, peas, nuts; better foods derived from them (better tofu); and just better recipes, possibly deployed through restaurants. If you could come up with tasty, desireable (as in, 'I have a craving for ...') products, the public maybe could be exposed to them via McDonalds or Starbucks or the like.<p>That seems much healthier and cheaper.
