Most of the complaints there about social media come from monopoly, not AI. Read the list that begins "You must be suspicious of tech leaders when…". Most of those problems only happen if you have a monopoly. If you have four sizable competitors in a category, market forces tend to work for the buyer. (Or so says an EU study. The EU takes monopoly as a problem seriously.)
Below four, market forces seem to stop working. This is probably the biggest problem with "tech".<p>As for SXSW, that's a different problem. Who goes to SXSW? People who want to talk and be listened to. Influencers. C-level executives. Journalists. Bloggers. In other words, people who do what large language models can do cheaper. Of course they don't like it. They see the steam drill coming for their job.
