As someone who once was an avid Flash user that got put off by Adobe's less then sympathetic pricing strategy, I've been ever since been looking out for a stable 2d animation solution.
I've been looking into Synfig Studio before, but couldn't figure out how to use it in the small pockets of free time I have.
I'm testing Friction out now, and I'm quite impressed!
Most controls and menus feel pretty familiar, based on some other software like InkScape, and it seems pretty stable.
It took me a while to figure out how to "add keyframes", which it turns out you don't do explicitly, but rather move around on the timeline, and then select various properties in the scene menu to the left of the timeline, and change the value of said property. Then a keyframe for that combination of object/property and time-point will be implicitly created.
