Anxiety is bad for your health. We all need to reach the point of
sceptical fortitude and "intellectual self-defence".
Remember;
The job of the media industry is to convince you you're missing out on
entertainments and knowing the latest trends and news.
The job of the fashion industry is to make you feel scruffy,
under-dressed and out of vogue.
The job of the food industry is to make you feel fat, unhealthy and
lacking proper nourishment.
And so on, and so on...
The job of all so-called "industries" and their attendant advertising
projects is to mount a psychological assault on you, to undermine your
confidence and provoke anxiety.
Once you realise this you can relax, safe in the knowledge that almost
everything written in the press by breathless hype merchants about how
everyone is going to be "left behind" ... is total shite unworthy of
your attention.
The "Job industry" (the multi-billion nexus of education,
certification, recruitment agencies, Linked-In, Glassdoor...) is no
different. It is there to make you feel like an under-skilled, out of
date, useless impostor who - despite two PhDs in STEM subjects - would
be lucky to scrub floors. It's purpose is to psychologically
undermines you in order to drive down wages.
