None of this stuff is going to work. Why do you think no one is curtailing their behavior in a meaningful way? Even EVs (I drive one) are becoming a joke here in the US.<p>Asking the most basic of sacrifices seems to be beyond the pale, so don’t be surprised when none of this works. There’s no fighting thermodynamics (or controlling the pet population).

The way to think about carbon offsets is to simplify the problem as analogous to &quot;excess mortality&quot; - if something doesn&#x27;t actually increase excess mortality, it&#x27;s not as bad as you think it is (and vice versa).<p>The same applies to carbon offsets: if their use produced an excess (or dearth) of CO2, we would notice.
