Much respect.<p>There have been rough times, but the Reverend created a safe place to be for a while.<p>It's hard to remember San Francisco during the AIDS epidemic. No cure, the disease often fatal, ravaged immune system succumbing to obscure illnesses with limited treatment and no hope. People sent home to die.<p>On top of that, losing dear friends, partners, everyone had !most someone close. And on top of <i>that</i>: vicious homophobia. Cut off from birth family, some die alone, unloved...<p>I could go on. But that was the scene. Reverend Cecil Williams a sacred respect, at least fifteen minutes of not feeling abandoned by the world.
