Backups stopped working a week ago. A visit to their site shows the message: 'We have a planned maintenance event that will impact the availability of SpiderOak One and SpiderOak Groups beginning Tuesday April 23.'<p>However, there's no indication of how long this maintenance will last, and there's been zero communication from the company.<p>HN seems like a good place to ask since, once upon a time, SpiderOak was the go-to recommendation for secure backups. Disappointing to see it fail due to neglect, but given the lack of updates, it was a long time coming.<p>Suggestions for alternative backup services appreciated.
There's a new message on spideroak.support: "The SpiderOak team continues to work on restoring service for our customers. We understand your frustration about the downtime and apologize for the inconvenience this creates. Once service is restored, we will send emails confirming this to all customers."
I recommend rsync.net for primary; AWS S3 (Deep Glacier, mainly) and Backblaze (B2) for secondary/tertiary.<p>I had used SpiderOak for years, but they are now clearly unreliable.
