When a politician sues a blog to unmask its anonymous commenter

It&#x27;s been a while since I&#x27;ve seen a Slashdot link on HN! Why not link directly to the source, <a href="https:&#x2F;&#x2F;www.dailykos.com&#x2F;stories&#x2F;2024&#x2F;5&#x2F;2&#x2F;2238565&#x2F;-RFK-Jr-sued-Daily-Kos-Things-are-not-going-well-for-him" rel="nofollow">https:&#x2F;&#x2F;www.dailykos.com&#x2F;stories&#x2F;2024&#x2F;5&#x2F;2&#x2F;2238565&#x2F;-RFK-Jr-su...</a> ?

Why would the site save any identifying information about commenters in the first place? What would have happened, had they not had any info?

I still can&#x27;t stop visiting Slashdot at least once a day. I wander over to Bluesnews at times too.
