On a related note, SMIC operates quite a few schools (from kindergarten to high school. I think they’re expanding to universities) which provides education to their employer’s children for free/reduced cost.<p>I find that fascinating as I haven’t seen anything similar from other countries. Can’t quite discern whether or not that’s dystopian. Companies deciding what children learn and possibly optimizing for getting them into the workforce feels wrong, yet it does provide higher quality education than local public schools.
