I'm from a place where Tesla had an early foothold and good following. There are many, many BYD vehicles on the road here now, and quite a few people I know are strongly considering them as their next vehicle. Some I know have made the move from consideration to purchase, and they all appear to be very happy with the decision.<p>Tesla should be worried. And quite frankly, BYD has listened to the wants of the market. Practicality, functionality, price point. You can't software your way out of customers wanting physical controls, for wanting a more compelling price point for seemingly quite good quality, or for other functions the market has been producing but Tesla has been cagy adopting.
