Is or has? Social media is great tool, but like all great tools it's up to the wielders. Hammers can build and beautiful city or wage war.
In the sense of social media we often think of the wielder as the one posting, but it's really the consumer. They have the power for good or bad with it. They choose to be angry over issues that have no practical impact on their lives or ways that other communities want to live. They consume and wield their outrage as a weapon to divide. Asking for tolerance but only tolerance if you agree with them, otherwise block, report and ban it.

Stop using it then.
Pick up the phone and call your mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter or friend and act like a real human being.
Social media is not real human interaction nor how our brains have developed to engage in intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships.
Imagine a new born baby. how does it interact with the world?
The new born does not need or require social media to engage with the world, she has everything she needs even without a fully developed brain.
We are all babies and have everything we need to engage with our fellow human beings.
Social media is not a great tool.
It is a tool only in the phallic sense.

The same can be said for mainstream news channels.
