This is indicative of defunct EU authorities.<p>The premise, the need to crack encryption isn't questioned at all, it has become a mission of fanatics that does more damage to the laws and rights of constituents than an approach that accepts realities like private communication.<p>Because this reality is carelessly denied, no effective work can be achieved.<p>It is a waste of talent, ressources and time while the authority itself neglects their raison d'être, while it also damages the legitimacy of EU institutions as a whole.<p>Also a hint of truth for those that believe it is public institutions against big tech companies. That is missing the point and strategy. You can be pretty sure that cooperation between both will be quite fruitful for several reasons, just not for you.<p>Their surveillance attempts are not justified by real threats. On itself it is just plainly illegal.
