All individuals should be able to have and own their own domain names

For those who were just as mystified as I was when I clicked on the link:<p><i>The main goal of EU.org is to provide free subdomain registration to users or non-profit organizations who cannot afford the fees demanded by some NICs.</i><p>EU.org is not endorsed to any European Union initiative, but it&#x27;s also not a TLD, only a subdomain.<p>How is this different from.. Geocities?

I&#x27;ve taken to buying a .xyz that (mostly) matches the mobile phone number for each of my family.<p>That costs me about $10 for 5 years.. I then point it to whatever service they&#x27;re like me to host for them.<p>The offer is being slow on the uptake atm, but I am in the middle of migrating from google photos to immich and that has garnered some interest

Ok, but there are (at least) 4 people in my country with the same name as me, so either it&#x27;s going to be some shitty name.name4938 deal or someone is going to be disappointed.

But then, we wouldn&#x27;t need email servers at all! The humanity!
