Seems Netflix is testing the waters of owning their own theaters.<p>The law preventing movie studios from owning theaters was lifted 3-4 yrs ago [1]. Sony recently bought out the failing theater chain, Alamo Drafthouse as part of this deregulation.<p>Seems we are slowly drifting into an era where:<p>“To see a Sony or Netflix produced film; you must go to a Sony or Netflix owned theater.”<p>It’s DRM for physical or in real life viewing.<p>Wonder if popcorn and other cheap snacks will continue to be expensive in these vertically integrated studio-theaters<p>[1] <a href="https://screenrant.com/movie-studios-owning-theaters-rule-court-decision/" rel="nofollow">https://screenrant.com/movie-studios-owning-theaters-rule-co...</a>
