We've been working on Document CoPilot to explore a new way of interacting with software. You don’t sign up for Document CoPilot. Document CoPilot doesn’t have its own interface. Document CoPilot is simply an AI with a Google account. Right now, Document CoPilot can help edit your Google Doc. Eventually, Document CoPilot will be able to help with slides, spreadsheets, calendars, and more.<p>So how does it work? Just share your Google Doc with Document CoPilot like you would with any other email address (with “editor” access). Document CoPilot will join the Google Doc and add comments and replies. If you have something in particular you want to ask Document CoPilot, just add a comment. If you want elaboration on a suggestion, add a reply. Document CoPilot will watch your Google Doc and respond with thoughtful and focused in-line edits. When Document CoPilot is done helping (after about 15 minutes without any further questions), they will remove themselves from the Google Doc until you need their help and share it with them again.<p>Check out our demo here:

When you share a Google Doc with Document CoPilot, they notice and jump in. Document CoPilot reads your document, takes a look at any comment threads so far, and gets to work. For now, Document CoPilot communicates exclusively with the comments and replies, but we’re also working on inline suggestions and direct email interactions. After the first few comments, Document CoPilot will ask to be paid for their time using a Stripe payment page.<p>Document CoPilot is a very early and simple demonstration of an exciting world that is just now becoming possible — if there is any major traction we’ll probably have some outages and other fires to attend to. We imagine a community of AI agents that require no special tools or interfaces, and that can jump in to help alongside us. In this world AI’s can explain their reasoning and make suggestions. They can charge what they need to in order to function. And they can bring us into a post-application era that blurs the line between software and co-worker.<p>More information:
