A tiny old church that I'm a friend of (Ohio, US) removed their bare-minimum stair lift chair - originally installed to help ill or infirm members up & down 6 steps - because the breakdowns and repairs and inspections and licensing got to be Just Too Much.<p>Neither the old members trying to manage those steps <i>sans</i> chair, nor them remaining housebound and isolated on Sundays, are better "promote the general welfare" outcomes. But neither the industry nor state regulators seemed to care about anything beyond their own revenue streams.
