Wow, from my 21st century perspective the most shocking thing here is how the Caltrans spokewoman was completely thankful to him. I was fully expecting a full-scale beaurocratic takedown, perhaps even suing him into oblivion

I think it&#x27;s important to note that his work used the proper materials and workmanship. It was essentially an &quot;official&quot; sign, just done by a volunteer.<p>I remember driving through there before and after. I was happy they&#x27;d put up a sign, and didn&#x27;t know until years later about the true story.<p>I&#x27;ve since seen a couple of other places which tempt me to grab a high-viz vest and fix some things.

Better title would be “he filled in a pothole”. Not saying it wasn’t a good thing to do but, man, I hate this weird clickbait syntax that’s taken over everything.
