Internships are often done illegally. They are not to replace other workers. The full purpose must be to help the intern. And the work shouldn’t be used for business.
Hmm seems the law changed recently , there used to be 6 rules
https://www.shrm.org/topics-tools/employment-law-compliance/...

I have no idea who this lady is but I read the article on Yahoo and couldn't find a single quote from her that actually matched the headline. The closest I found this:
“I was willing to work for free, I was willing to work any hours they needed—even on evenings and weekends. I was not focused on traveling,” Mathur concludes. “You really have to just be willing to do anything, any hours, any pay, any type of job—just really remain open.”

> She did admin and research for its general council—all for free.
Where did that money come from? I assume her parents.
At that age, I didn't have enough money to do a summer internship without pay.

"I did this one thing once. A sample size of one. It worked for me. There were no lucky breaks. I had no advantages of having a great smile and pretty face. I know it was this one thing that made a difference. Look at me. Be like me. Me. Me. Me."
I see this shite on LinkedIn *all the time*. In a word, ridiculous. I just giggle and keep scrolling.
In this case, given her position she comes off as out of touch and tone-deaf. I can't imagine someone in a leadership position being those.

You first and do it again within Squarespace, be a role model then and work for free in your organisation.
Why don't these executives all work for free and take no pay?
All the work these executives are doing is just yapping to the CEO about what the people they manage have done.
The people who do the real work shouldn't be working for free.
Such an asinine article, no wonder Gen Z doesn't listen to millenials.

Squarespace CMO should be sent to do hard rock-breaking labour in re-education camps for capitalists, says Gen Z

> that’s long been the case, which is why she had to get creative when she was starting out nearly 20 years ago
Many years ago there weren't planes or even electricity. Why don't do we go back to the stone age? Start by doing marketing on stone tablets...
The world improves. Technology advances. Some people don't. It's sad that a lot of them are in a position of power.
