What's fascinating is the re-tracing of human civilization. First, they were essentially a tribe and could get by with a few basic social rules. Then they became a village and needed a few more rules. So far, fine. Everybody was cool with it. Then they became a small town - and that required far more rules, which angered the original anarchists. As more and more people concentrated in the area, the kinds of rules had to change in order to manage the crowd and ensure "essential services" were still being met. This aspect of Burning Man is fascinating.
