Rat birth control could soon roll out in New York City

Anything to not solve the trash crisis because that would require removing 0.001% of free parking (ie private storage on public lands) in the most expensive public real estate in the world.

Have there been any attempts to create a rat-killing virus? Something like myxomatosis or calicivirus in rabbits.
