This is a big deal. Our humanity should be invested in rebuilding our cityscapes in the likeness of our own images (rather than economic or political).<p>Why aren’t we building cities intended to last hundreds if not a thousand years? (Buildings and infrastructure which age well anyhow).<p>Too busy wallowing in our own filth?
This is true, which is why it's doubly depressing to see all sorts of new building construction in my part of the US, and 90% of it is soul-crushingly awful in aesthetic terms.
