I just switched to iPhone 15 Pro from my old iPhone X, and I thought my old phone was big and heavy. This new one sitting on my desk looks absolutely ginormous, and I paid quite a bit of money for the device. Before iPhone X many years ago I rocked an even older iPhone 6 for multiple years.
Maybe a lot of people haven't noticed this creeping in, but with my upgrade cycle, I can tell you the footprint of these things is getting wild. Maybe I only feel this way because I set up my 15 Pro yesterday, but I don't know man...
It definitely rings a bell to me that Apple senses this sentiment when evaluating their lineup, and I understand why they'd go and make a slimmer model. No wonder then Samsung will join the competition right away.
At some point our phones were slim nice and pocketable, but somewhere in-between, they've gotten just huge boxy and crazy. I love the performance and hardware, but on a device like this I tend to wear a case which worsens the problem. This is not even a Plus or Max model, and it's just massive.
Looking back at my last device it feels to me like my X was a thin elegant slab of beauty, and I'm not even talking about my older 6 which was just super light and slim.
I bet if there are more people like me, the rumored "Slim" and "Air" models will be a hit.
