I met Lunar only twice more than 10 years ago: the first time in "La tannerie" in Dijon where for a few days he hosted a Debian bug squashing party, and again later in a Linux conference in Paris. But he made such a strong impression on me that I had to add this little note to the many voices who have already stated how much worse we are now that he is gone.
It is hard to explain how, after just a few discussions and sharing a living space for a couple of days, one can leave such a persistant memory, but he was this very rare mix of being at the same time uncompromisingly kind, intellectualy gifted, socialy and physically brave, energetic and happy.
Somewhere in the attic of my thoughts I keep a little portrait gallery of the few inspiring characters I've met, that I used to visit whenever I despair of mankind; And he is featured there prominently.
I conjecture that it takes only extraordinary circumstances for such a personnality to blossom.
