I'm thankful that I was born after the widespread availability of antibiotics, vaccines for Polio. I'm thankful for having seen the hockey stick curve of computing thanks to Moore's law... getting newer, faster, cheaper computers every few years for a few decades straight.<p>I'm thankful for the friends I've made, and the family I share this journey with.<p>I'm thankful for the roof over my head, with reliable infrastructure for potable water, sewer, power, natural gas, and Internet. I'm thankful for effective local governance, even if they do make some bone-headed decisions some times.<p>I'm thankful for the time I have left, and freedom to explore technology that was only available to a handful of insiders in the 1970s and 80s, like TinyTapeout, 3d Printing, CNC routers, etc.<p>I'm thankful for all the stuff that came before, surface plates, gage blocks, cheap mass produced steel and other materials, hardware, and all that enables.<p>I'm thankful for Grainger and McMaster-Carr... and lots of other wonders in the world.<p>I'm thankful for digital photography, and the 1/2 gigabyte of photos I've taken since 1997. And for the cheap mass storage that makes it possible.<p>We live in amazing times, and I'm thankful for as much of it as I can be.
