A couple years ago I received a windfall $5.21 payout from the Equifax breach settlement (remember that!?)<p>I received an email today and it set off my internal phishing gut check - but it seems like it could be plausible.<p>Did anyone else receive something similar?<p>------<p>Dear [REDACTED]:<p>The Equifax Data Breach Settlement Agreement says any remaining funds in the Consumer Restitution Fund will be distributed to Settlement Class Members with valid claims.<p>You have a valid claim and are eligible for an additional payment. Yup, I got one too. But the process of registering, handing over all your personal info, etc., just to get a $10 gift card, seemed not at all worth it. Besides, with a gift card, you're never gonna have a purchase that's covered exactly, so you're likely to either overspend or leave a balance on the card.
